Casper’s Wave Hybrid and Purple’s Hybrid Premier represent two of the most technologically sophisticated premium mattresses available. Casper uses ergonomic zoning; Purple uses its GelFlex Grid. Both are engineering-driven departures from traditional foam and innerspring. Here’s how they compare.

Ergonomic Zoning vs Grid Technology
Casper’s Wave uses different foam firmness levels in different body zones — softer under shoulders, firmer under hips and lumbar — to naturally align the spine. Purple’s Grid achieves a similar end through different means: the polymer columns collapse under pressure (at shoulders and hips) while providing full support elsewhere. Both approaches work well; the feel is very different.
Cooling
Purple wins. The open Grid structure allows significant airflow that Casper’s foam layers can’t match, even with the AirScape perforation technology. For hot sleepers, the Purple Hybrid Premier is the clear choice between these two.
Motion Isolation
Casper’s foam layers provide good motion isolation; Purple’s coil-supported Grid allows slightly more motion transfer. For light-sleeping couples, Casper may have a slight edge.
